About SuperAnnotate
SuperAnnotate was started in 2019 by Vahan Petrosyan, its co-founder and chief executive, and his brother (SuperAnnotate). It describes itself as "the enterprise AI Data Ops platform that powers the full data lifecycle for modern AI development" (VCA). It raised a $36m Series B in November 2024, led by Socium Ventures (SuperAnnotate), and extended it to $50m with $13.5m from Dell Technologies Capital in July 2025.
What SuperAnnotate takes
SuperAnnotate wants "the messages, documents, and decisions your teams produce just by doing the work". Its programme page lists Slack threads, email chains, runbooks, wikis, tickets, approvals, incident reviews, inspection reports, claims files and screen recordings of multi-step tasks. Buyers are frontier AI labs and enterprise AI teams.
Who it accepts
"Any size, any industry, anywhere. You need records built up over time and the rights to license them." It also wants data that is specific to your field and hard to get elsewhere. That makes it one of the few buyers to say plainly that it works with companies outside the US.
Compare more than one buyer
We put UK companies in front of several buyers at once and bring you written offers. Free, and you only pay if a deal completes.
Prices and payment
SuperAnnotate gives an indicative valuation of $100,000 to $1m+, "priced on rarity, depth, and exclusivity". You get a written valuation after a scoping call and a sample review.
You license rights for a set period rather than selling the data: "You're licensing rights for a set period, not selling the data." Payment is made "on delivery, and on each relicense", so the same records can keep earning.
How it handles your data
- Your standard. Identifying detail is removed "to the standard your team sets".
- Buyer approval. "You approve each one, and can block competitors permanently."
- Retention. Data is "retained for an agreed period, then deleted", and "deletion is honored on request".
- Security. It claims SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, annual third-party penetration testing, and that data is never pooled with another engagement.
SuperAnnotate's privacy policy says "The Service is hosted on servers located in the United States."
What a UK company should check
- The de-identification standard. Because it follows the standard your team sets, write that standard down with care, or ask for advice on it.
- Licence period. How long each licence lasts, and what happens at the end.
- Relicensing. How relicences are priced and reported, and whether you approve each new buyer.
- Transfers. Its privacy policy says its service is hosted in the US. Ask where partnership data is stored, and check the transfer safeguard.
- Governing law. Which country's law the agreement uses.
How SuperAnnotate compares
Its "anywhere" eligibility, time-limited licences and payment on each relicence set it apart from buyers that use perpetual terms, such as Replay. Its indicative range starts at $100,000, the same as the lowest figures published by micro1, Handshake AI and Mode. Compare it in our buyer directory.
