It describes itself as a consumer technology platform that acquires and scales consumer apps. Its company data programme runs at data.mode.inc. What Mode buys

"Mode buys an agreed copy of company-owned operating records for AI research and training." Records "can include email, documents, chat, CRM, and billing data". Mode buys the agreed copy directly and delivers it onward, and says it charges no broker fee.

Who it accepts

Mode's page sets these minimums: "6+ for legal; 10+ for accounting, finance, and medical; 30+ for all other businesses or nonprofits." It says "companies with several years of records they own and teams primarily based in the U.S. are the strongest fit". Its calculator offers "Canada / UK / Australia" as a location.

Its press release describes the threshold differently, as "at least 20 full-time U.S. office employees", with 10 for accounting firms and six for law firms. Confirm the current rule with Mode.

Prices and payment

Mode's headline says a company's data could be worth $100,000 to $5m. Its calculator results are "Indicative only; subject to a full review of your internal tools and data volume", and the calculator is "illustrative, not a guaranteed offer". Your written agreement "sets the amount and payment schedule before export", and defines the scope and any exclusivity.

On timing, its page says "about three months from the first conversation through payment". Its press release says payment is "expected within approximately 60 days", without saying from when.

How it handles your data

  • You approve the scope before anything is exported.
  • Your own team signs in to the approved systems, so "no passwords are handed over".
  • Mode exports the agreed copy and de-identifies it, removing or transforming identifiers "before onward delivery".

The page does not publish deletion terms or security certifications.

What a UK company should check

  1. Eligibility. Whether Mode will contract with a UK company with UK-based staff, given its US focus.
  2. Onward delivery. Mode buys a copy and delivers it onward. Ask who the final users are and what they may do with it.
  3. The figures. The page and the press release differ on size thresholds and timing. Get the current terms in writing.
  4. Deletion and exclusivity. Ask for both in writing.
  5. Transfers and law. How personal data leaves the UK, and which country's law applies.

How Mode compares

Mode's sector minimums are the lowest numerical minimums published for law and accounting firms, which makes it relevant to small professional practices, if it accepts UK companies. Its top figure of $5m is among the highest published. Compare it with buyers that say they work with companies anywhere, such as SuperAnnotate, in our buyer directory.
